HOMO TOURISTICUS

Category: Society, Travel
Duration: 1 x 52’
Production year: 2013
Director: Charles-Antoine de Rouvres and Jerôme Scemla

Synopsis

An unusual in-depth encounter with Homo Sapiens of a"Third Kind," or "Homo Touristicus" - a complete biped with sandals, sunhat, sunglasses, shorts and a camera. He is everywhere, exploring the globe in every direction and generating over 1000 billion dollars in yearly revenue worldwide. Playing with the narrative codes of wildlife documentary, "Homo Touristicus" recounts the history and development of the first world industry, from its inception to the boom of group travel, with its impact on the local environment, economy and culture.
